Our Ethos
At Hippy Kids we pride ourselves on our Child Led, free flow approach. We encourage children to explore, ask questions make choices and take risks (within limits!). We love nature and like to be outside as much as we can exploring the world around us.
We use our tuff trays every day for sensory experiences that often lead to imaginative games that the children invent themselves. We have learned that often there is no need for toys and children have the best adventure when guided in a heuristic way.
We believe in guiding children to make healthy choices and to look after themselves. Emphasis is placed on healthy eating and exercise. The children help to grow fruit and vegetables in our garden and love getting involved in the kitchen too, discovering new smells, textures, tastes and cookery skills.
We positively welcome children from different backgrounds and with any additional needs. We celebrate diversity at Hippy Kids and do not segregate different age ranges and abilities of children unless we feel there is a purpose for a particular activity. We feel children have much to learn from others and like to encourage the family feeling of a ‘Home from Home’ environment.

The Learning Journey
We are committed to providing what we can to enrich your child’s learning journey in a ‘Home from Home’ environment. We strongly believe in support, encouragement and praise. We document your child’s journey, gently guiding them towards milestones and provide a homemade journal full of photos and notes of their progress. We endeavour to fulfill the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage in an organic and natural way. We are confident that we cover all areas of learning in a fun and imaginative way to prepare children for school.
