Hippy Kids is a childcare business managed by Beccy and Charlie. We are a husband and wife team and have been childminding since 2007. We have three teenage daughters of our own who also love spending time with small children.

Beccy decided to make childcare her career after becoming a mother, she especially loves the nurturing side of the business and has a background in performing arts.

Charlie previously worked as a chef and decided to join the business shortly after it began. He uses his skills to cook delicious meals for the children. He loves making mud kitchens and dens in the garden and projects involving cardboard boxes!

Both of us are creative and love being outside surrounded by nature. You might even spot us swimming in the sea at the weekend.

We are both fully trained Early Years Educators and are OFSTED registered childminders. We have invested much time, effort and research over the years to progress our knowledge and grow our family business into the successful community based Playschool that it is today.

We opened our Hippy Kids Playschool in January 2024 and it is now our nurturing and nature based setting at South Portslade Community Centre. We occupy the entire 1st floor of the Church and have a beautiful forest garden.

We work with some wonderful Early Years Educators who have a wealth of experience and qualifications between them. The children we care for have strong relationships with all of us adults which is something we are very proud of. People always comment about how our setting has a strong family, ‘home from home’ feel.
