Our Adventures
We endeavour to be outside every day, trips to the park are common. We like to use nature and the world around us as our main inspiration, we love beach combing and playing in the woods. We now have our very own Beautiful forest garden at our new Playschool and encourage the children to enjoy being outside as much as possible.
We began weekly visits to our local Nursing Home in 2017. This project has brought everyone involved much joy, the residents very much look forward to our visits and the children learn so much from their friendships with them too.
We host a Messy Playgroup every week at the community centre. These sessions are open to all and it is a lovely way to meet us if you are curious about who we are and what we offer.
We have many adventures at home and at Playschool too. We love art and sensory play. We make playdough and dens. We do cooking and baking activities regularly and gardening too. We often have projects ongoing like watching caterpillars cocoon and turn to butterflies, or observing frogspawn. We have our own vegetable patch at our house that the children are actively involved with.
We have Yoga sessions at our Playschool and merge our settings each week for this to enable the children to enjoy each others company. Our yoga teacher spends one day at week at the Playschool and also practises mindfulness with the children in the forest garden and art studio.
We encourage learning and development in fun ways. We focus on fine motor skills by providing a range of art materials and loose parts for the children to explore. We learn to share and take turns and be kind to our friends. We play games and we tell stories, dance and sing. We make the effort to prepare pre-schoolers for the next stage by teaching literacy, maths, social skills and independence in a holistic and organic way.
The biggest adventure we have at Hippy Kids is enjoying each other’s company and observing our children grow to be confident, happy and kind people. We truly believe in our ‘home from home’ environment and allowing the children to learn from each other like a big family.
